Would you take this job?

I left my previous role in July and interviewed for a permanent role at another company a few weeks ago. I didn’t get that job but they offered me an interview for another role that they offered me. However, this role due to it being a new role is a fixed term contract for a year but the hiring manger sees it continuing past the fixed term contract.

My only hesitation is that my DH and I want to start trying for a baby next year. Would it be silly to take a fixed term contract for this job that I want or wait for a permanent contract at another job?

Could you take the job and keep looking for something permanent elsewhere. It at least gives you some income in the meantime.

An income is better than no income imo. I would be very uncomfortable about being jobless for 3+ months, and I'm not sure that there's much recruitment in the run up to Christmas? Unless you've got other interviews or opportunities lined up (or secret buckets of cash) I would take it.

With TTC there are no guarantees, you might get pregnant immediately or it could take a while - it took me almost 4 years with my first one & one oopsie with my second 🫠

You might still qualify for smp if you get pg after starting.
