Stupid Question Re: Notice Period

I feel really stupid asking this but the timings are tight for my potential new job so I don’t want to make a mistake.

My contract stipulates a 3 month notice period but does not mention if this is calendar months or 90 days.

Given next month only has 30 days I’m struggling to work out what would be my last day if I resigned today. 12 weeks would be 30th January but could they hold me to 31st? I don’t have any annual leave to spare.

Thank you.

If it says monthly then it will be calendar months.

To agree with the first poster it'll be months- I've been in this situation recently

Thank you, so that would be 31st Jan?

Agree with others. If your contract says months then it’s months, not days or weeks, if it was it would say days or weeks.

It’s one of those ones where it’s as simple as it says! I have it at work where people are on a months notice and then talk about leaving in 4 weeks time. Nope it’s a calendar month not 4 weeks!
