Colleague undermines me

At work I did a handover while I moved to a new role. The person now doing a specific task in that role has emailed me twice about different queries. I will tell them what needs to be done and they disagree and say they will do something else. I have said what needs to be done in relation to what the policy and procedure says and they want to break company and policy and procedures the way they do it.

My colleague did not do one thing correctly with one dormant account and they could get a disciplinary if a customer contacts to discuss it. It is not my job to correct their mistakes. I just feel they waste my time asking what needs to be done then say they will do it their way.

Next time they email - bounce it back to them and ask them what THEY think should be done. You have an audit trail and they will eventually get found out. Problem solved.

Thank you. It is not problem anymore and it is a good idea to keep emails as support.

If you have completed the handover, refer them to their manager, who is the appropriate person to give them a professional steer.
