Ok. Long post. I work a desk job (actually my dream job which makes walking away really hard) with females as the large majority (female bosses as well as colleagues) and naive as this sounds it's turned into a nightmare. The back biting is something else and the frankly rudeness of e mail and teams responses hurts. I am a grown woman and I know who it shouldn't hurt. But it does. I'm really good at my job but my confidence is none existent.

Where I have worked previously there has always been a good mix of men and women and I've worked on my own for 15 years which hasn't helped. I'm stuck though as I can't find a job and have no other income. Do I grind and bear it or walk away? I am so miserable and logically I know the answer but I can't see the wood for the trees. AITA for thinking that working with women is really hard in 2024?

Could you try and reduce your hours and pick up something else part time? Even if it’s unsociable hours?

If it’s having a serious impact on your wellbeing, it’s important to try and make a change ..could you begin to distance yourself from the bitchiness? Let it wash over you a little more?

I work with a team of 12 women and they are amazing. So is it possible that you work with unpleasant people or you're not a good fit for the team? If you think it's legit to say working with women is hard then it might be worth some reflection...

It’s the people not the sex. I have worked in many combinations of teams and the most ‘bitchy’ was when I was in a team of all men. Honestly the backstabbing and general cattiness was something else!! I don’t think it was anything to do with their sex though, they all just rubbed each other the wrong way. Sounds like you have a bunch of annoying co-workers, I would look for a new job.
