Have been applying for public sector jobs - mostly using application forms but have decide to apply for a career change job out of the public sector (gulp) and they all seem to want CVs.

Haven't done a CV for years and all my job experience is not hugely relevant - how can I write the CV to highlight transferable skills? Also, all the typical CV examples I have seen all look so dull and uninspiring - any tips to make mine stand out?

there are some really good sites around that are free - I googled when I did mine and there is one site which highlights transferrable skills. I think I searched under CV templates.

try microsoft office CVs - they are really good.

i've found it simplest to look at job ads for the job you want and rewrite your cv to reflect the requirements, don't forget keywords as some companies use ocr software to picke these out - hope this helps
