I had an interview for a new job a couple of weeks ago. Different department and a bit of a promotion. They said they would let me know in 2 weeks as were interviewing lots.

During this time I have had covid which resulted in a bad chest and have been off sick for a couple of days. Whilst off sick I had a call and offered the job. I am still not well enough to go back to work and GP advised to stay off but I feel really bad as I need to let my manager know I have been offered a new job. I feel so bad and really bad timing to be off. Please help. Should I force myself in
Tomorrow even though I'm not well to let them know face to face I have a new job.

Can you email them instead?

I would just send an email if it's an office based job.

Then they have an official email and record of it.

Have you received the formal job offer in writing yet?

Don't quit until you've got it in writing. Ideally the contract signed, but not everywhere does that now.

Growlybear83 · 13/10/2024 08:47

Why can't you just ring your manager?

inthefrontrow · 13/10/2024 08:49

Not received formal offer yet in writing as it's pending references so I need to let current manager know as they will be approaching him for a reference.

I just feel really bad emailing to say I have been offered a new job whilst off sick.

I won't officially hand my notice in until I have formal offer and everything in writing it's just more to give a heads up

It's normal to speak to your manager before you apply for an internal job. It's not as though you're off on long term sick, can you not Teams your manager to update them? That way you see them face to face.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 13/10/2024 08:59

I don't really see what your problem is here. Have you been off for an extended amount of time?

inthefrontrow · 13/10/2024 09:49

Okay maybe I'm just over thinking it. Not been off for a long period of time. First time off sick 3 years. It's not an internal move. I'll ring him tomorrow

Been off sick due to bullying by my manager. Complained and then had the kitchen sink thrown at me to protect them. Have applied for a few jobs whilst I have been off sick with stress and now been offered a really good one. They want my companies HR address. But I don’t know what to do. Don’t want them to say off sick with stress and have the bullying manager be the one to do the reference. Help please
