Do you actually enjoy your job and going to work?

Just as above really..do you actually enjoy waking up and going to work. Does your job actually bring you enjoyment or just something you do as we have to work to afford to live..

I've only ever done one job (self employed too!) and it's quite an 'easy' job and I can choose my own hours ect which is nice but I've never enjoyed having to go to work. I loved to do beauty before I did it to earn a living but I constantly feel like UGH work tomorrow and dwell on it. Obviously I'm still going to work because I can't live without an income but wondering if this is normal or if I'm just in a crap career

It's mostly good but is fraught with frustration due to poor organisation. Pay is good though, so it's easy to suck that up.

I don't enjoy working these days. It isn't just the work but the having to get up and be somewhere. Going out and coming home in the dark and horrible weather through the winter months. I'd happily retire tomorrow and write novels and work on the garden. I think I'm just exhausted having been the sole provider for four children since my ex left in 2011. I'd love to be able to have a gap year and do what I want for a bit.

Also struggle with the actual getting up and getting into work mode rather than what I actually have to do at work. My days off are too fast and the days I work drag!

No, I'm exhausted most days. I'm
suffering god awful menopause symptoms and side effects from daily cancer treatment. If I slept better, I would enjoy it more.

@Enigma52 wow what awful circumstances to have to work in..really feel for you. Sending love🤍

I love my job! I have a great team, every day is different, but I feel both challenged and that I have the skills to deal with everything, and I have a day off every week so not too burnt out.
Yes it's a juggle and some things have to give, and yes I'd love to spend more time with kids doing crafts and homework, but I love having my job where I am not mum, I am a well respected and valued expert.

If you had asked me a year ago I would have said no. I was a nurse in an extremely busy ward with ever increasing paperwork and less and less patient contact. I did a post graduate diploma and now work in a specialised post, M-F 9-5 and I absolutely love it. I love talking to the patients without feeling like there’s a time constraint on it and the team I work with are wonderful. It’s challenging me in ways I didn’t think it would and every day crops up something new but I adore it. I’m off at the minute with illness and actually miss going in, not something I thought I would ever have said!

@Ellsx6 yes I struggle with the getting up and having to be somewhere too. It just isn't working for me. I'd happily not work now; but I need an income. It's tough 🌼

Sometimes. I do find it all a bit dull but that’s mostly because I CBA to work at all. I find applying myself very difficult.

But I have a really cushty number, well paid, from home, total flexibility I have to remind myself how lucky I am.

I like my job- what it actually is. I like the flexibility. I like individual team members. But it’s a terrible work culture where managers don’t listen and people will throw others under the bus to cover their own backs. Supports not there- in the same team some people are swimming and some are completely sinking - and its really horrible to be a part of.

RuthW · 09/10/2024 12:20

Absolutely love it. It's my happy place.

That's my problem. My job is quite fortunate to have and I've built an amazing business all by myself but I just cba anymore! The thought of working is tiring! But life goes on I need money to live unfortunately 😅 I feel if I changed careers it wouldn't do much because I've got shit work ethic and motivation and I think the problem stems from being lazy and unbothered if anything. Also hate living to work.

@Ellsx6 yup. I worked so hard to get where I am and now I want to mess about in the garden all day!
