Team burnout

I work in a high pressure department. We used to be a team of 10, now 5. Workload has doubled not just from absorbing headcount, but from additional projects to the BAU.

when I say ‘I can’t do X because I’m working on Y so I’ll have to stop Y to do X’ I get told to delegate. Problem is everybody else is just as burned out. The priorities change on an hourly basis.

is this a case of constructive dismissal? I’ve put in writing many many times how all our workloads have increased. Nothing changes. My team are stressed and unhappy.

advice please or is this a lost cause and I just need to get out asap?

how can I delegate more when I don’t have enough people to delegate to, but the work must still be done?
