Hello,
Just after some ideas. I currently work in the NHS as a band 7 and recently started a new job, which is not near home so I need to stay over (at my expense) one night a week and work remotely the other 2 days. I’m not enjoying part of the role. It appears I have been led down the river a bit! It’s also not leading me in the right direction do I think I’ve made a bit of a mistake accepting the role, and I’m losing money to it.
I was a bit jaded working in the NHS before applying for this role and I’m not starting to think I should do something else with my life. I’ve been in the NHS since the late 90’s and, well, done my bit. I’m 52.
Im thinking about another type of role. I enjoy travelling around and love my frequent trips to London and wondered if there is anything else I could do that would allow me to do this sort of thing (even some sort of hybrid role). My background is quality management and clinical sciences. I have a BSc and MSc in Biomedical Sciences and part way through a MSc in Healthcare Quality Management. I’ve always had a strong interest in this area with most of my experience built up around it.
Both of my children look like they will be heading south in the future too, so I’m thinking ahead. I’m on my own with no other family so I have the flexibility to go elsewhere.
I’m fed up of being overworked in the NHS. My role is two jobs in one.I really want to make a change. I need to keep a similar salary (£50k), if not more. I know London roles pay more and I love London (especially the suburbs near Richmond and Kew). I’d go for NHS as long as it was just a quality role and not everything else added on top.
Any ideas?
