So o started my new job end of August and the offer private Bupa medical, dental etc. ((One can pay extra to cover family members)
I have signed up for it and paid extra (deducted from salary). A total of about £250 is the monthly deduction and was deducted from my pay in September.

On October the 2nd, I used the Bupa GP service for my daughter as I couldn't get NHS GP appointment and she was very poorly.

I have plans to use the Bupa benefit so see an hygienist for myself, partner, and 2 kids
To book consultants appointments for my son and partner as they both have joint issues ?partner has very bad arthritis and son with osgood schalter)

But my mum thinks I should not use these Bupa benefits until I have passed my probation- she thinks it's too early in the job to be using the services/benefits so heavily,

Is she correct? Can this be a problem?

No way! You are paying for it!

No, you’re fine.

The only thing I would double check is whether you’re actually covered for pre-existing / chronic conditions before booking a consultant appointment. I know mine only covers acute flare-ups.

Your work won't see that you've been using it.

Go ahead, as PP said, you are paying for it.

I can't see your Mums logic here at all.

How long is your probation? The only thing I'd check is whether you'd still be covered for the chronic issues if you don't pass or stop paying.

Also whether they will actually cover pre-existing conditions, most don't.

As PP has said check it covers pre existing conditions. Also there is sometimes a waiting period like 3 months before you can use it.
Otherwise go ahead, it's a benefit you are paying for
