And she types very quickly. Long as in artificially long acrylics. The tapping is driving me mad, can I do anything?!

Self absorbed to make a noise like that 😂 it's using a keyboard, whilst having nails. It's not like it's a planned thing! The OP just needs to drown it out / wear loop plugs / realise that a typing keyboard noise is office appropriate.

ChampagneLassie · 04/10/2024 20:33

Someone I used to work with complained about my typing noise, I got a rubber keyboard and she moved desks

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 04/10/2024 20:39

All keyboards tap when you type. You’re just looking for people to sneer along with you at nasty common long nails 🙄.

Choochoo21 · 04/10/2024 20:58

Can you put headphones on?
Or ask that the radio is turned on?

Any noise would distract me and I struggle to work in ‘silence’ around other people, as I hear all of the little noises.

I tend to put the radio on or my headphones as I know it’s my problem.

FloofPaws · 04/10/2024 22:27

My ND Children would absolutely be going mad at that sort of noise - YANBU

Buy her a set of these?!

Thanks for your comment but I’m not sneering at all. But it’s so loud and so intrusive , I can’t help but be affected by it. Ironically she wears ear buds a lot of the time. Maybe to drown out her own noise.

I find long nails really dirty… sorry

TomatoSandwiches · 05/10/2024 17:46

I like the sound, I make patterns with the tappity taps 😂

With a concerned face regularly point out articles which talk about the dangerous chemicals they allow to seep into your body. This is a good one 😁"Prolonged exposure can result in chronic sensitivities and dermatological issues. Exposure to elevated levels can lead to impaired brain function and potential loss of consciousness."

Except that's not true 🙄

I just always wonder how people wash, clean, handle a baby, cook etc with those awfully long nails. It's an annoying sight and someone tapping away with them can cause a bit of inner rage. But there's nothing you can do - she's living her life and working. Just find a way to cope.

Spirallingdownwards · 05/10/2024 19:09

I am quite intrigued what you expect her to do. Stop working? As others have said just get noise cancelling ewr buds if her doing her work bothers you.

Get her nails done in a style OP approves of, obviously. Completely reasonable! Grin

I did say earlier that my post was mostly tongue in cheek and I’m aware there is nothing I can do. It doesn’t stop the fact that the furious relentless tapping irritates the living daylights out of me!

I saw a tiktok ad the other day for an asmr keyboard. It deliberately recreates the sound you talk about even if you don't have nails because loads of people love it.

There's even 3 hour long 'sleep inducing keyboard typing sounds' videos on youtube.

This is your problem. It's not a universally annoying sound and she's not being anti social.
