Sick leave and new job

Hi

I’m currently in a corporate complaints job in London which is full time. I’m off sick right now due to stress (of the job) and decided to meanwhile apply to schools jobs for better work-life balance.

I’ve been successful and offered a school job.

I could potentially do both jobs (after I return from sick leave).

I’m not yet sure if I want to resign from the corporate job after as it does have loads of benefits.

Would I be allowed to work at the school while I’m on sick leave? Seems like a stupid question I know

Any insights please?

TIA

This question is always a minefield.
My understanding is you can work a 2nd job when off sick as long as the job doesn't have any of the factors in it which are causing you to be off sick from the other job.

So if you can't drive, can't stand for long periods, can't work shifts, can't have a public facing role, and only one job has these tasks then it's reasonable to only be off sick from one job.

But stress is a difficult one because people who are suffering from stress are usually affected in lots of ways, both physically and psychologically. So poor sleep, difficulty concentrating, tearful, feeling sick and shaky are common in stress.
So you'd need your GP say you had recovered sufficiently and you're fit enough to do the new job

How would doing both jobs be a better work life balance than just doing one?

How could you do both jobs if one is full time?

Or are you thinking of the school job Mon-Wed (say) and moving to part time on the corporate complaints?

In answer to the question, we would and have sacked people who have told us they are unfit to work while also employed and working in another job.

How could doing a new presumably part-time job in addition to your existing stressful full-time job possibly work, if you can’t do the full-time job on its own at the moment?

Can't see how working two jobs, is going to give you a better work/ life balance? Can't you resign from your corporate job and just work the school job?
