My manager asked me to hire his friends son (Mr X) last year. I raised my concerns that it may change teams dynamics if we have someone who has contacts. Mr X was fulfilling all the job requirements so I went ahead and hired him. It now seems like that my manager pushing any possible opportunity towards Mr X. Though the work is been delivered but Mr X went ahead and applied for other jobs couple of months ago within other dept. As the experience was less for the roles he didn't get the interview. Even though we know he's planning to leave my boss keeps asking me to keep assigning more work to him. This is frustrating tbh. Has anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this?

Do exactly as your boss asks, whilst noting in writing the reasons you think it is unwise / counter productive.

Tbh, you don't know what they have in mind for his progression - so it's best to let them get on with it.
It's annoying! - but cover your back with a written list of your concerns.

You ain't gonna win with nepotism ........ 🙄
