WHAT SHOULD I CHARGE?

Hi. I'm renting out my spare bedroom with bathroom and access to kitchen and garden for just one night a week. It's a good location in town on bus route etc. and lodger will have their own key. I'm at a loss as to what to charge. Thinking of about |£40...too little or too much?

Depends where you live and what the going rate is.

The going rate in the area is about £90 a night. But I will not supply breakfast, just the room, bathroom, use of fridge and kitchen

Is it going to be to the same person each week?

Will it be the same person each week, will they leave any of their things in the room, and what is your location?

I read that like that brilliant Aussie chap (apparently) being arrested after eating a meal...a succulent Chinese meal.

OP not enough info. Place, and whether your one night lodger can leave things in the room, and is it the same person each week, all the things people have asked.

I did see it, and I thought 'aww, bless him. He's gone to the great Chinese restaurant in the sky'.

Needs to be cheaper than a local hotel room I'd say.

Do you mean like an AirBnb, or a contract where the same person comes every week?

Why only 1 night a week? I travel a lot for work and would usually stay 2 nights. Offering more nights would surely open up more opportunities?

Why not look at AirBnB and see what other people charge for similar rooms?
