Advice needed on repayment of overpayments.

I’m reaching out for help or advice on behalf of a colleague. After 17 years of service at his job, he recently received a letter stating that he has been receiving incorrect enhancement payments for the past 12 years and is now required to pay this money back. He is unsure of who else to contact, as he has already spoken to ACAS, but found them unhelpful. The amount owed is significant, and the monthly repayment demands are quite high. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have they tried citizens advice?

Employment law solicitor? IANAL but I don't think the company can claim overpayment beyond certain financial years, this was their error not his.

No they haven't, I will suggest this to them. Thank you.

If they do bring a claim they cannot go beyond 6 years. But speak to CAB/ACAS/Union about the remaining 6 years.

Good shout regarding a solicitor.

That's positive news, I've heard the limit is 6 years, does anyone know if this is true?
