I’ve always worked in my family business (real estate) and I left 1.5 years ago when my DD was one and I was pregnant with DS who is now 7 months. I’ve been living off my savings while my partner launches his business- he is doing okay but it doesn’t cover our expenses yet and my savings are taking a hit.

My family want me to come back to work and put both my children in nursery, I’m reluctant to do so because I want to be with them and for the time being I can afford to - until I can’t. I’ll never get this time back again and I feel judged for wanting to be with my little children rather than send them to nursery. I totally respect everyone else’s choices and how they raise their children, I think having them at home should also be respected (it certainly isn’t “the easy” route!)

So my question is, does anyone know of something I could do some to make some extra money but that doesn’t involve set hours, something I could do in my own time (after the kids are in bed!) any ideas would be much appreciated 🙏🏻

My friend sells stuff on eBay and vinted and also does a few hours cleaning each week for a few of us in our friendship group

You say "partner" not "husband" - are you married? If not, what's your plan for long term financial security? Can your family really afford to live off one unstable self-employed income? How much money do you need to make the finances work?

Anything you can do in your own time at home is going to pay very badly - less than minimum wage for time invested - unless you have a marketable skill or business savvy.

I can't advise on jobs but even if it's a family business you were working at shouldn't you have been getting maternity pay?
Might be too late to do anything about that now though unfortunately but you might be able to claim that money (I have no idea if you can - it's just a thought).
