Work is causing me depression

My employer is toxic. Lazy staff get praised and staff awards, now these people have even said themselves they don’t do much so watch TV etc as they only have 3 hours of work to do a day. Staff who go above and beyond their job role doing tasks not for them get no praise or even nominated for an award. 21% of staff leave because a lot of the management are gaslighters.

I feel burnt out and had enough. You tell management you can’t cope with the work overload in one to ones but they sugar coat it and not really sort the issue.

It is always the nice people who leave. I feel lonely as a lot of my support network keep leaving. Then you are stuck behind with the toxic ones looking for their next victim to lie about and bully out. A nice colleague told me about some horrendous treatment they are receiving at work and it is left me feeling uneasy.

One colleague left due to bullying. He kept messaging everyday still moaning about the company and what they did to him. The next day I told him about an issue I had an he seems to back off. He is unfair as I am still there and he complains about the place. Then when I want support he is not interested. He also sent photos of his new place which is in a lovely countryside setting, I wish I had that.

One of the toxic teams want me to do a sideways move. I don’t want a sideways move as I will be on the same pay doing a job I did before and my line manager has less experience and I know they would pass me their work so they get all the praise from management as they did this years ago.

I don’t know where to start to get out of this toxic environment as it is giving me low mood.

Start looking for another job. Sort out your CV, research the market and get out. Obviously, depending on your circumstances, this might take a while but no job is worth burning out for.

Just making the decision and planning your exit will probably make you feel better because toxic workplaces tend to take away your perspective.

Leave would be the obvious solution.

Look for another job, life is too short to be so unhappy in your job and taken advantage of.

Sounds familiar.....they can keep their toxic culture...look elsewhere!
