How to request change of contract from hybrid to remote?

I started a new job earlier this year on a hybrid contract; at the time, the company was very flexible with their hybrid working and you could work from home 100% of the time if you wanted. They have now introduced a new policy where hybrid workers will need to be in the office 2-3 times per week. I have a long commute.

I spoke to my manager about it (who is not based in the same office as me for context - our team is split across several UK offices as well as some remote workers), and he said to email HR.

Does anyone know whether I need to present a case to HR, or if it will be a simple change now as my manager has given permission for it? I'm not sure who makes the decision and what factors they consider, so don't want to come off too casual about it if I need to present a case to HR.

Thanks in advance.

It doesn't sound like your manager has authorised it. You will need to send a flexible working proposal to HR.

Yep this, your managed hasn’t said “yes just let HR know”, they’ve said to email HR, so you’ll have to send as flexible working request.

You need to submit a formal flexible working request. There will be a template on .gov website.

I think you will need a flexible working request, email HR and ask because they might have a form you need to fill out
