Work stress ball dropping advice

We've been under a lot of pressure at work and I've been asked to do various things.

I gave a statement on one of my projects that said I was essentially further on than I was. I was intending to complete these but ultimately I didn't yey and that has now come to light.

They are fairly trivial and fixable but not a great reflection.
There is a wider question about other work I have but that's been determined by factors outside my control.

However the fact I've said I was further on in the other projects has been noted.

The other work should be a focus. But instead I'm being pulled up on this and it's feeling uncomfortable and stressful.

If a friend came to you with this problem what would you say to them objectively?

I don't really understand. You lied, so now you have to fix it. Once fixed perhaps a chat with your manager about the unmanageable workload and how you can delegate/ prioritise correctly moving forwards.
I guess it's a lesson learned about being honest about where you are and why x

I guess so. That makes sense. I just feel terrible about saying I was further ahead and like my standard for myself has dropped and I don't know why.

Honesty is the best policy, as you have learned
You need to be super clear on what you have got done, your timelines for moving forward, and showing you have learned your lesson.
If other people are depending on you, you have to be honest or it doesn't work for anyone.

It really does happen to all of us sometimes! I imagine it's because you care and want to do well, so it's not from a bad place! Just ask for help if you need it, nobody (even on MN) can give 110% at all times to their work x

Aw thank you you have really helped me stop spiralling. I will try and fix things. Thank you.

I'd get to where you said you were as fast as possible.
