PIP and non compete

about to start a PIP but have been interviewing! Unfortunately I have a non compete agreement which does limit me from working for competitor companies for 6 months. Can I negotiate a severance package with a good reference and a request to get out of the non compete? Haven’t got another job yet. Had a final interview which seemed to go well (fingers crossed). But they do do similar work? Another few interviews next week.

I think non compete agreements are difficult to enforce. My husband had one but they aren’t legally allowed to stop you working and if you are in a very specialist role then the liklihood is you will work for a competitor. My husbands new employer wrote a letter to confirm he wouldn’t work on certain projects/ accounts for a period.

If you’ve been put on a PIP then I don’t know what leverage you’re going to have to request any kind of severance package or reference really.

If you don't pass the PIP you won't have a job.

Concentrate on doing that to the best of your ability (make sure it's SMART).
