Is this normal?

I interviewed for a job back in July (which I got), and to cut a long story short, am still waiting to hear when my start date will be. Emails I have sent, have not been answered.

I have no experience of this as I have always been a teacher, with obvious starting dates and clear communications. I’m so frustrated, and running out of money!!

On face value, it sounds like they have changed their minds... and ghosting you.

I can’t see a phone number anywhere! I know they were waiting for references, but they should have them by now.

I’ve been looking for other jobs. I think it’s terrible that they’ve made me wait so long!

If this with the civil service, it wouldn't be a suprise.
