Paediatric Nurse

Hi, I'm a registered paediatric nurse, I work in the community for a children's hospice. I have been in my role for 6+ years now and feel like it's time for a change. I really don't want to go back to ward nursing for many reasons, one being that I really struggle with Nightshifts now. But I'm struggling to find anything else. Has anyone else switched careers from nursing? Or does anyone have any thoughts on what I can do? When looking for jobs, it seems there is a lot more opportunities for adult registered nurses, ie working in GPs etc. I have considered health visiting and school nursing, but would need my public health training and there is nowhere in my area that is recruiting/funding for either of these positions. Feeling very stuck and a bit flat tbh x

What about a sideways move into training/education?

So training up the next lot of paediatric nurses

@Howdull do you mean working in a university teaching? I'm not very confident with public speaking and I think I'd need some sort of teaching qualification? I love patient contact and caring for the children and their wider families so would miss that. It's something to think about though, I'll do a bit of research. Thank you for your suggestion.

@Jemski39 i know this is an old post but have you looked at special needs schools? Was my absolute favourite job out of many as a paeds nurse would go back in heartbeat of one came up near me. I had a similar background of complex care and no school nursing experience and they employed me over other more experienced school nurses because I wasn't scared of a managing a trachy or seizures

Clinical educator role? Specialist nurse? My hospital has loads of them. In almost every specialty. The world is your oyster. Though I still prefer ward nursing after 21 years. Best job ever
