So I’ve come back from MAT leave 5 weeks ago. I’m a registered nurse but don’t want to be in this job anymore. Does anyone know the current policy for leaving one NHS employer to change to another NHS employer? I don’t want to be in the position where I’m paying my MAT leave back to my current employer 😫 I can’t seem to find any matching documents online to say if I can do this or not? Has anyone had a similar experience?

I can't speak for your Trust, but in mine, I need to return to work for 3 months within my own Trust or a different Trust otherwise I need to pay back my MAT pay. I also know a colleague who moved Trust's during her maternity leave and didn't need to pay it back as she technically 'returned to work'. I think as long as there's no gap in service, you'll be okay. I'd speak to HR or your Compliance department to be absolutely sure though. Good luck!

Every trust I have worked in has been 3 months post return. Did you tag any annual leave on the end, and presumably, you have to find a job and work your notice. That would probably take that long anyway.
