Recruiting (sort of!) in York area - need help!

Hi - bit of an odd one but Im hoping for advice from anyone who can recommend cheap / free advertising in the York area.

Basically I work from home doing Usborne Books and have managed to get some really good contacts and bookings in York. I live in Thirsk though and its looking like I've overstretched myself! Its a 50min 1 way drive to some of them, which I wouldnt mind for bigger one-off events but all that way for a 2hr toddler group etc is spending a lot on petrol / time etc.

I'm looking for someone in the York area to join my team to (eventually) hand these bookings to but am having trouble recruiting in the area. I'm on Gumtree and have adverts through Ebay and what not but need more to target the York area. Any ideas? I'm really looking for free advertising if Im being honest. Im going up next week, weather permitting to spend the day with lo doing door to door recruiting postcards and will put some posters up on noticeboards if Im allowed but other than that I'm stumped. What do you have in your area to advertise these things? Where would you look locally for them?

*This not a covert advert lol! I genuinely need help with this - I don't want to drop bookings but cant keep doing them long term.

Thanks all x

I'd ask the mums in one of the toddler groups you go to. My SIL lives in York, she might like to do it.

Lol - thanks Stripey! Youre right, York people are most likely to know wheres best. Id have thought York being a city would have plenty of free advertising etc but hardly anything or at least nothing that people actually see!
Tell your SIL to give me a yell if she is interested (or knows someone who is!). The potential for more bookings are fab but like I said, because its taken off so well everywhere else Ive got 1) less time for York bookings and 2) don't really wanted the 1hr 40mins round trip for a 1.5hr booking because of the petrol cost!
Its a shame there isnt a jobcentre type place I could use really!

Thanks for replying!

Hi,
I'm based in York and thinking of starting with Usborne books at Home. I also run Kindermusik classes in the Malton area so was thinking of combining the two.
If u want to chat about it, contact me on [email protected]
Thanks,
Sarah
