Stressed and wanting to quit

Any advice would be great.
I had a temporary contract with my job until 31st aug. I had another contract sent to me to extend it till next year. I have not signed it yet. I have still gone into work this week.
I feel physically exhausted by this job as they keep adding more and more things to the workload and requiring everything to be done in the same time.
its effecting my mental wellbeing. And I would like to leave.
as I haven’t signed the new contact could I leave with immediate effect.
or would you give a notice period?
many thanks

How is the job market in your area/field at the moment? Would you be okay practically if you quit?

I think you should be able to push back on the work requested; if you don’t have the capacity to do it then you just don’t!

I already have another job. This is just an extra job with 10 hours a week.
only problem is I work for the same company but a different department for my other job

You should give notice [especially if same company]

librathroughandthrough · 07/09/2024 10:54

If your contract ended the 31/08 why would you need to give notice?

Sweetiexx · 11/09/2024 15:19

Because I have worked 11 days after that contract ended

Given you would still be working with the company then it's best to follow whatever the process is and not burn bridges. I don't think you need to sign the contract given you seem to be working to it's terms already it could be taken as youve accepted it. So if there is a notice period in your latest contract I would expect that would be required.
