NHS and potential cuts / redundancy

Has anybody here had experience of going through NHS restructures / cuts? Basically our Trust has to save money and there is a corporate service review going on behind the scenes at the moment. All non-clinical roles have been frozen. Rumour has it that to save money, posts will be down banded.

I have been with the NHS for over 20 years all in non-clinical roles and have worked hard to get to my current banding. I know realistically that I won't be matched to the same band role if redeployment is offered as roles on this pay grade are very few and far between. I am very worried as we are due to have a massive building project commencing on our home in October.

DOes anybody know if they can match you to a role two pay bands lower - would you be expected to take it as a match even though it would be financially unviable? I am in a Union. Just wondered if anybody has gone through this before and has actually been made redundant?

If you are rebanded you should still be entitled to pay protection at your current band level for a specific period and most Trusts have organisational change policies detailing redundancy payment arrangements if they start to make redundancies. Sorry to hear things are a bit rough at the moment.
