I have an upcoming work capability assessment

Appreciate some advice, please, from anyone on benefits who has had a work capability assessment. I currently claim new style ESA and although I have been signed off by my GP have been actively job hunting for a hybrid role since my last contract finished in May. I have just had an SMS saying “Remember your work capability assessment is taking place by phone 02.09.2024” and “please check your appointment letter for full details…….” I haven’t had a bloody letter and forgot to take a copy of the form before sending it in. Klutzy, I know. I would honestly sooner be working than claiming I have just not been successful in finding other work. I also feel very icky about discussing intimate health issues with a complete stranger if it’s a bloke, tummy churning as I write that. Thank you.

Op is it a telephone appointment?? They should send a appointment letter. If they send a report after check it very very carefully as they will be very negative. You can ask for a mandatory reconsideration if they stop or refuse your benefits. Good luck x

They will ask you things about your daily life. I was for example asked about where I live because I wrote I have difficulties with steps. They will ask about things not mentioned on the form as they make assumptions based on the evidence you provide

It's nowhere near as bad as a PIP assessment.

Remember they are assessing if your fit for any work, not just in your own industry

My first sick note was dated 10th January till present (signed off until 15th November)

I usually get paid universal credit the 1st of the month
My assessment periods are from 25 till 26

Am I right to assume I will be backdated work capability for the months of April, May, June, July, August and September to be paid 1st October?

Please help! Thanks

Bastards didn't call when they said they would, which was yesterday 1-4pm and indeed still haven't. Clearly the klutzes have no idea who stressed some of us get over shit like this. I've emailed my advisor @ the JC, drafting punchy email to the firm who run the 'service' on behalf of DWP.
