Yeah there's is regular meeting but the recent expectation is to send something formal.

I send an email.
achievements - bullet point list,make sure that they’re significant either as a deliverable or key milestone progress
focus areas - bullet point on key areas which have been worked on towards milestones
blockers/challenges - anything you may need help to move forward

depending on the type of work you do, first bit could be metrics based (123 queries answered etc)

Honestly keep it as simple as you can.

There is no need to overcomplicate something as basic as reporting workloads. Relay the important numbers with either bullet points in the email body or an attached excel sheet if you have data that needs putting in graphs or tables.

Do not use lots of colours and fancy graphs for the sake of it though.
