Calling HGV driver/Wives

I'm concerned about my DH. He is a class 2 HGV driver and is currently averaging around 60 hours a week (factoring in breaks). He is getting home around 6/7pm, has some tea and is in bed early for 4.30 wake up. The staff shortage at work is the main reason for this. He used to get in around 4ish. He seems really exhausted. By the time the weekend comes around, he tries his best to engage but I can see he needs rest. What I'm also concerned about is that his salary has remained £30k a year. Does this all just sound normal?

If he's working 60 hours a week it looks like he's not even been paid NMW, especially as I'd expect some or all statutory breaks to be paid.

It's also concerning that he's so tired which is obviously dangerous for a driving job.

Can he threaten to leave or actually do it? There must be better employers out there.

To add, it's not long since there was a shortage of HGV drivers meaning that pay should have been quite decent, more like £40-50k pa for a 40-48 hour week but he should be getting NMW for every hour he works an absolute minimum and likely more as lorry driving isn't a NMW job. £11.44 an hour for 55 paid hours is nearly £33k pa.

DP is also a class 2 driver. Works 4 on 4 off, supposed to be 12 hour shifts but he rarely actually does his hour, usually around 8-10 but still gets paid for 12. He makes around £34k plus bonus of around 1.5k so 35.5 k overall, we live in the NW.
