Interviews!

After a long and successful career I’ve been put on a PIP! Looking for roles and don’t know if I’m misreading the room but I thought one or two went really well but I’ve not heard
of next steps with any of them. One did say the main HR person is on holiday but HR person back up would contact me. The other warned it was hard to get a hold of the hiring manager. One interview cancelled on me as they changed hiring strategy and today they want specialist knowledge of a particular area! Not sure if I’m oozing desperation or whether it is just holiday time so life is going slow!

It's not you.

The job market is very strange right now. Everyone and their dog appears to be looking for a new job.

Recruiters are also being ridiculously fussy, and I've had a few applications that were rejected because I didn't score high enough (I did), or they had too many applicants so paused the hiring process (???), and another where they decided they didn't actually need to fill the role so cancelled the interview last minute.

I've had two interviews, one where one of the panel looked so bored she was picking her teeth throughout and I bombed the interview not wanting to work with her. And the second they asked me for a presentation I was asked to prepare, only I wasn't told that (even worse as this was internal and HR fucked up).

My only advice is just perseverance and keep on applying.
