If someone tags their accrued holiday on to their MAT leave am I right in thinking their KIT day has to be taken during the MAT leave part? Is there any way around it?

They don't have to but you won't get additional pay for them if you are taking them during paid holidays

So you can just come in on one of your holiday days like a normal working day? And then keep the day "holiday" as holiday to use later?

why would you go in on a holiday day?

kit days have to be used while you’re in your weeks of maternity leave. If you took, say, a weeks holiday you could then work one day and have another five days holiday if agreed by your employer, for a total of 10 days. It works like any other holiday allowance it’s nothing to do with May leave except your tagging it onto the end

The rule is accrued holiday has to be tagged onto the end of mat leave. I'm so confused because I agree with you, why can't they just come in and work for a day!

You can only do kit days during maternity leave. Working a day whilst on annual leave would only result in getting the days leave back.

You dont even have to have KIT days if they don't suit. I wouldn't have thought you could have a KIT during accrued holiday as your maternity leave would have already ended in order for you to take annual leave.

Yes that's what I thought. Thank you
