work messed up my shifts

now what usually i get informed about my incoming shifts 2 weeks in advance now they want to introduce a new AI based system .O great ,now i requested a change of schedule months ago for September when my daughter starts school.

So now they posted my new shifts yesterday to start on Monday and mixed it up.So now instead of evening i have day shifts, the manager has blanked me says its my fault and left it at that .What the hell do i do

I have a 13 year old i could leave at home but not my 5 year old, what do people do in this situation i don't have parents. My other half's parents are a far stretch but its so short notice .They run a post office attached to their home.So in theory could ask them to take the girls and ask eldest to watch youngest while they work, living room next to work area. But my other half would have to drop them off before work at 7 and pick them up at 5 ,that its so inconvenient to them not even sure they would consider it

what should i do =/

Can you swap shifts with someone else?

rosydreams · 08/08/2024 12:41

Why does the manager say it's your fault? If you can't do it, you can't do it. Get back to the manager and say actually it's not my fault, your new AI system has messed up and I can only do what has previously been agreed. Leave the ball in his court, this isn't your cock up

Seems the only thing you can do is: try the area manager above your current manager or leave.

It happened to me, I had two jobs and the company tried to put me on shifts when they want, no big notice in advance, it was bad. One of the company was a father and daughter business, he basically left me to leave because his daughter needed shifts on days I worked.

The other company area manager listened to me and reminded the manager to listen to my concerns and be fair on my shifts. But I left it there.

Not sure why mnw jobs are always staffed with people who seem to openly hate you and instead making it work with you, just want you stressed and out. If they don't want you, just ask them and leave.

i could try another manager but heres the thing i am easily replaceable its very hard for me to find a job this flexible.I worry about not getting shifts ,if i could find another job i would

Could you explain how hard this is for you. Ask if they'd let you start early this week so you can do after school pick up?

Can you ask to swap with a colleague?

Can your DP shuffle his working hours at all for one or more of the days?

A bunch of flowers and box of chocs to show your appreciation at your ILs helping out.

It'll be difficult, but you'll hopefully find a mix of favours to help you out for the week.

Get some ready meals/quick meals in to reduce the stress. Don't book any play dates. Get uniforms and work clothes lined up on Sunday afternoon. Can the DC have school lunches rather than packed lunches for the week? Ditto with you and DP.

Its still school holidays for us that's why the shift schedule was supposed to happen in September. I organised a child minder to pick up my youngest from school. Thankfully because its school holidays is why we could drop the kids off at my other half's parents house. Its just very out the way

My other half,s work is flexible but if he cuts his hours for mine it makes no financial sense .But if he drops them off before his shifts it could work out.Just inconvenient for my other half's parents. We have also offered to send them over with packed lunches so as little bother as possible. I agree with gifts i am thinking wine lol

wow i got such a bitc h response the head manager above the schedule manager was so rude. I talked with the schedule manager she was unable to swap my shifts around and shrugged her shoulders. The head manager walked in and started shouting at me like you don't belong in the managers office.I tried to explain i was just talking to her sorry .But my god the managers are rude apparently they have treated other co workers even worst. If i could get away i would .I really hope she sorts something next week but i doubt it ,thankfully i was able to set up a temporary scheduling on the system but thats not till the 26th rip
