Timing of holidays in the Army Phase 1 (long) training

Hi all,

As I have mentioned elsewhere, my DS is applying for junior entry to the army and if successful he would be on the long course for Phase 1 training, which I know starts in mid-September and runs for 49 weeks including eight weeks holiday.

However, does anyone know roughly the timing of those eight weeks? Is it two weeks at Christmas, two weeks at Easter and so much over the summer? My son is 16 and to date we have had the whole school summer holidays to go away, and as I work from home I can be away for five or six weeks while working part time. I just wondered what our family holidays are likely to look like next year if he is successful in his application.

Thanks

He'll get 2 weeks summer leave in August

If its 49 weeks including the holidays and starts mid Sept 2025,then he'd ending phase 1 and moving on to Phase 2 towards the end of August next year. I wouldn't bank on booking holidays because I'm sure you will want to be there for the Passing Out parade.
