My boss handed me a letter saying they are changing my notice period from 2 months to 3 months, as I am classified as a 'Senior' member of staff (I have been for 2 years, there is no change to my role at all). I have refused this, I may be experienced but I am not a Manager or Head of Department, just an experienced glorified administrator and many others within the company could do my job.
There is no benefit to me to accept. I know it means if they get rid of me, I will get an extra month, but 1 month extra isn't a benefit.
Has anyone had this and had a good come back to their employer. I am requesting a call with HR to give my reasonings, but would be great to hear what others have said.
I am going to focus on the benefit part. If they can give something that benefits me, I will accept. At the moment it is a disadvantage, if I get a new higher paid job, I would lose out on the higher pay for a month.
