Feedback on interview delayed again

Hi I had a 3rd stage interview last week and I got told if I don't hear anything by the end of that week not to stress as they were interviewing a candidate the following Monday. The recruiter messaged me to say that I would hear something the following week (mid week).

Now I have had another message from the recruiter saying that the Company have asked if I can hold off to hear something until mid next week!

Obviously the waiting is awful. But from your experience what does it mean when they have delayed telling you the response?

could be a number of things. They are waiting for their first choice to say yes. They are pulling together an offer and need agreement from someone who is away. They haven’t made a decision yet.. good luck

If they are delaying it could be a number of things.
None of them negative from your viewpoint, except from an organisational perspective.

  • they could be waiting from feedback from superiors (in my old company this was a terrible issue for candidates. Our C-Suite were just shit at confirming their go-ahead)
  • they are still interviewing, but you are in the running
  • people are on holiday so they can’t get the internal discussion needed to finalise

It’s not bad. If you were a clear no you’d know about it already, unless they are really bad at organising in which case you shouldn’t want to work for them anyway.

So just an update - I asked the recruiter if she knew what the hold up was. She responded to say that the hiring manager has received another CV and want to talk to this potential candidate. When I had my last interview last week they said they only had one more candidate to interview and now they want to speak to someone else.

Does this mean that they possibly didn't think I did that well. Hence why they are interviewing more candidates?
