Hello,
for context I am a Mum of 3 , husband who works long hours although he is changing direction soon which will allow me to focus more on my career / more time and flexibility with hours I can work.
I have ran my own little business for 10 years part time (around young children) as a professional service (post grad qualified) an animal service for clarity mainly horses, (not a vet). This particular industry is becoming saturated as more routes to qualify have been developed and is also very physical - I have recently developed issues with my back and so am considering stepping away from this.
Last year I took on a part time role as all children now at school age (2 days per week) in Higher Education lecturing on my specialist subject and Programme lead the degree. I enjoy this very much although feel the pay isn’t particularly great but adequate. Brilliant team and lovely line manager to work under. Little room to move higher up and currently no room for further days but this may change.
My husband and I also run a small business which we started last year (very successfully) which is seasonal and fits in around our other workload (although makes for some long days!) again, my husband will be taking more of a role in this when he switches careers soon. This has involved animal husbandry and production, sales, obtaining clients and accounts etc which I have so far taken care of on the whole.
I am considering where to go next basically.
I have a strong knowledge base in my niche area, experience of running a business, accounts, dealing with clients, lecturing & delivery, assessments and marking, dissertation and data collection etc. Abit of a varied skill set. Ideally would enjoy some working from home and some days out and about.
Any ideas so welcome!
