Too soon to apply for a new role...?

Hi All
I started a new role almost 3 months ago, it was a sideways developmental post (same org, same role, different dept & genre), but since leaving my last job I have realised just how much I did in this role, I was told there was no scope for promotion, although I do feel that the role I was doing was at the higher level, which they didn't recognise until I left.
My new role feels like quite a step back, in some ways it has been good to take stock as I do feel that I did too much and was taken for granted. I also had a colleague who was blocking me at times, through different work streams and at times I felt that I was pretty much on my knees. My new team seem nice, and my role is looking at some different areas to my last role, but I miss the involvement of having my own area to look after, and feel more like admin support. One of my managers has outlined a couple of new roles that will be advertised over the coming weeks, one of which is a higher grade and would involve looking after a specific genre. Would it look bad if I applied for this? or should I wait until I have been in post a little longer?

I've worked in places where you needed to be in role for a certain length of time before applying for an internal opening.

In your position I would bide my time for a bit, then discuss career progression with my manager in our one to ones.

Talk to you manager. Did they mention it specifically to you in a 1-2-1? And would they still be your manager if you got the job?

But, yes also check your contract and make sure you're eligible to move.
