I am an ex specialist nurse mid 50s who wants to try something different. Any suggestions on something I could get into that isn't full time but is interesting?

Do you have a hobby you could make pay? Gardening, crafts? What sort of thing do you enjoy?

What aspects of nursing did you enjoy/excel at OP, and what other skills and interests do you have, e.g IT, photography etc?

I really would like to move away from nursing altogether. My last few years were hard going with bullying and stress this really affected my confidence. I have tried to do some bank in a different role but the anxiety, (probably exacerbated by menopause ) raised its ugly head.

I would like to do something a bit different as I still consider myself as being able to contribute to society. I have looked at some charity jobs, but I do need to supplement my pension. So any suggestions would be great.

My job and commute didn't leave me much time for investing time in hobbies as such. I love reading, travelling, walking, dogs. More recently I have been loving some DIY in my own house but while I can forgive my own mistakes I don't think doing anything for someone else would be as forgivable!

Fair enough wanting to avoid nursing altogether. My thoughts on job roles are:
-First aid trainer

  • Healthcare data input/analysis
  • Petsitter+/- housesitting
  • Dog walker
  • Day care centre events organiser/befriender (roles that will benefit residents without a health care element)

I will keep thinking and post if I come up with any more ideas

Thank you for this. I want to investigate other options so that I dont just do something for the sake if it but more like something I will enjoy.
