Is this a viable business proposition? Dealing with difficult people

I am struggling to find work given that I am a woman of a certain age who was made redundant last year.
Over 30 years of business experience. In the past few years I have always been the 'go to' people person for handling difficult employees. It's not always been easy, but I am quite good at it: business-minded but empathetic.
I'm thinking of offering a business solution that

  • helps businesses have difficult conversations
  • trains people to have those conversations
  • manages those conversations - PIPs or dismissal
  • provides the under-performing individual support to perform better or exit the business
Would your business find this useful? I am also doing other research, but thought I'd ask the Mumsnet people too

Actually, yes. Yes I would.

I’d pitch it to smaller businesses that can’t afford a separate HR function. And maybe talk to payroll bureaux to see they would be interested in offering it as an additional service to their payroll customers.

It's a great idea. You would find a huge market in training line managers in the NHS.

I went on a training course where they had us role play a difficult conversation with the trainer, it was actually really useful, so I think there's definitely a space for this. Particularly if HR are a bit rubbish, scared of tribunals but have a budget 😁

My dh used to do this. He was an HR manager for a company, but used to do consultancy work. Basically small businesses would employ him to make sure that they fired people properly i.e. make sure all the relevant legislation was followed, correct payments made etc. He had lots of work.
