Recruiter says they will communicate decision tomorrow

I had my last interview last Monday, and submitted a short assignment last Thursday, a week ago today. The recruiter said they would update me “early next week” as they are going through all the interview feedback.

I followed up today as it has been exactly one week since we were last in touch. The recruiter replied quickly, saying that they will be able to communicate the decision tomorrow.

I know nothing is given but is this generally a good or bad sign? Has anyone else been in a similar position?

It means they haven't decided yet

Anytime I worked with a recruiter the latest I waited was 48 hours and each time it was with a job offer, however I suppose it all depends on sector, how many candidates etc, retail management here for context

Despite the confirmation I would know the decision today…nothing :(

It doesn't mean anything other than they haven't had the time to make the decision.

Exactly this. Bit frustrating going into the weekend but as they are not the direct employer they are reliant on that information being communicated. I am a direct employer and never leave anyone to wait over the weekend because either way it is stressful. Try to put it out of your mind until Monday - enjoy your weekend!

They will have been affected by the global IT outage today…..

Could mean they offered it to someone else first, who hasn’t accepted or declined yet. I recruit a lot and we don’t decline candidates until someone has accepted. I hope you will hear soon.

I'm recruiting directly at the moment, and it just means they haven't worked out the finer details or simply haven't decided! A decision maker could be out sick, or got called into another matter, etc etc - could be anything. Don't read too much into it, you'll probably hear early next week. Good luck!

Thank you all for your replies. They actually emailed after hours yesterday, offering me the job! It turns out they were waiting for the sign off from procurement. I am being made redundant from my current position so to say I’m relieved is the understatement of the century!

Holidays, timing, sign off etc. or they've offered to one and are waiting for them to accept but keeping you waiting.

longdistanceclaraclara · 20/07/2024 12:52

Oops, sorry and congratulations!
