Job advertised and then...gone a few days later? Why?

I saw a job advertised on glassdoor a few days ago that I was going to apply for. It gave the posting date so I know when it was put up. Now I can still 'see' it if I google, but it's no longer live - why would this be?

I know in most cases it could be that the company has an internal candidate lined up. But in this case (I have a mole at the company 😅) I am pretty confident they don't. So why do this? Indecision about what they need?

Lots of companies looking at cuts. I advertised 2 roles and they were put on freeze before the closing date.

I've heard of sought-after jobs being taken down after 24 or 48 hours due to a deluge of suitable candidates. No obligation for thr employer to leave it til the closing date.

@Ladymuck - this one was strange though. It was online for 5 days. Company very well backed too.

@IDontHateRainbows - I know from my friend on the inside that they were thinking about hiring for this role… but it is a pretty niche job which requires quite specific experience, which is why she told me about it! So we don’t think it’s that they were inundated. She has no idea why it went up and then came back down though…

Changing priorities, we pull jobs when another role becomes more urgent and we only have sign off for x amount of heads.

The company might have paused the job advert temporarily to give them time to assess the first batch of applicants, to stop them getting overwhelmed.

Why don't you speculatively apply, send your cv etc and ask that you be contacted should the post be available again.
