Would you be nervous to start position without contract?

Or is that normal?

Last spoke to boss last week with job offer. I said I'd be happy to sign contract and I sent them all my paperwork. They said they'd be delighted to work together etc. Sent me starting dates.

I start my training Monday, with the actual position starting the following week. I've handed in notice etc but now getting worried I've no paperwork, just the written email offer.....

Well they could fire you for no real reason anyway so a contract won't protect you from that. Does the email offer include all the important points salary, benefits etc?

Too late in your case but i never hand in my notice on original job until I’d sent signed contract back to new employer and they’d confirmed receipt. I want to be sure they are sure. If they are in an hurry for me to start then they can issue a contract quickly.

Although an employer can rescind an offer or give notice after contract is issued it’s less likely after contract (alothough happens) than just an email or verbal offer. Did the offer email include salary, working hours, holiday allowance etc?

But as other poster has pointed out its easy to fire someone new or not start them even with a contract, but notice usually has to be paid.

I normally wouldn't hand in my notice either, but I actually planned to leave this employer anyway within the coming weeks.

Email mentions probation period, salary, holidays and working hours as I asked for this before I accepted position. I gave details of references and asked for a contract
