I posted the other day about the work place bully.
things are just not getting any better, I’m yet to put my grievance in right now I’m TIRED and drained.
my question is, I have had a job offer, the building hasn’t been commissioned yet so until then I won’t get my start date, it’s looking like next month.
Until I get my start date they can’t ask for references.
My current job I get full sick pay, do you think I would be ok to just go on the sick. I mentally cannot take it anymore.
my work just give basic references, confirming start dates and job title.

Your work may just give basic references but, if a prospective employer asks about a sickness record, do they not give that info also? I’d be concerned about an offer being revoked but I totally underway you want to go off. If you put a grievance in is there any chance of gardening leave?

when I approached HR about my grievance I did ask about references, she said they only do very basic ones. If they ask about sickness they don’t answer it. I actually think there could be something that is in the “law” about employers and sickness and for it not to be shared. Could be wrong?

but that is my worry.

NHS asks for/gives sickness absences in references so can't be a law against it. It's giving factual information to say person A had 7 days over past year, or whatever

Ah I see. My HR said they ignore any requests about sick and just stick to basics but I trust NOONE at work 😪😪
