Would you start on a day that's not a workday?

Good evening everyone,

I'm due to start a part time job four days a week at the start of next month. I won't be working Tuesdays due to an evening course (starts September).

The start date they have given me is a Tuesday. They may not have realised what weekday it us, they simply said the start date would be the 6th.

I'm worried I should make it clear early on that I can't work that day? I did 2 days training last month, which I was flexible on in terms of days but that was simply a once off. What do you think?

You need to contact them. Just say the start date seems incorrect as it is a non working day for you.

Is it also the same for bank Holidays, does anyone know? I assume I don't have to make up those hours on the Tuesdays

This. Just call them.

Your bank holiday question is separate. You're entitled to presumably 0.8 of a full time bank holiday allowance. How that's dealt with will depend on their holiday system, but most likely any excess bank holidays you receive above your entitlement will be deducted from your annual leave available to book.
