Working as a teacher

I'm a secondary school teacher

Had to ring a parent after finding inappropriate response in a mock paper I was marking - parent proceeded to tell me to F off on the phone and has put a complaint in against me to head teacher

I've a witness to the phone call I was nothing but polite and just informing them of what would happen if this was her real GCSE

What happened to just being a decent human being when interacting with others?

Why do I even bother teaching anymore?

Does every parent secretly hate their kids teachers and I was oblivious to this?

What has life come to my only outlet is a mumsnet rant 😅

Well, it explains how the poor pupil has got to the stage of putting a really inappropriate answer in a mock paper, doesn't it.

I don't think this is very new. The comment in the staff room after parents evening 30 and 40 years ago was "Well, having met their parents tonight, that explains an awful lot"

Half the population are lunatics, inclidng this parent. No wonder their kids behave as they do following in parent's footsteps. Treat the parent with the contempt they deserve and just do not give this any further attention.

Get your union to ask for child to be moved to another teacher, so no future repetition.

Carry on doing your job. Most parents and kids will appreciate your service. Thank you for trying to make a difference.

Very few parents are arseholes..but some are. Try to not let them worry you. Pity their children.

Always going to be a few arsehole parents. Generally, on meeting them we discover the reason for the arsehole behaviour of their offspring. Thankfully, they are the exception to the rule and most parents are supportive.
Don't let one arsehole parent get you down.
