VPN or SIM for new /additional number

Not sure if this is quite the right forum for the question, but it is work-related.
I'm just setting myself up as self-employed and anticipate getting more business as we head into the latter part of the year.
I have a personal mobile and home phone, but was wondering if I could have a virtual landline or an additional mobile number, either of which would ring on the mobile I already have.
Right now I don't have lots of funds in the bank, so looking for the most economical way to do this.

I am not in a hurry to get it sorted - for now there are other ways prospective customers can reach me, but it would be good to have it planned out.

Has anyone done this and was it complicated and/or expensive?

Oops. I meant VOIP, not VPN.

VOIP would give you a landline style number which makes you seem more trustworthy than just a mobile.

Something to investigate- I'd need to have it forward to my mobile for convenience.
