Can anyone recommend a good programme that I can use for a short newsletter or leaflet that will contain photos and text?

Canva is great for that sort of thing, with plenty of templates, and really easy to pick up.

I use Mailchimp and Canva. Canva is easy to use and Mailchimp has good tracking and reporting if that's important.
