Jobs and recruitment

I am having a tough time with this at the moment

Applying for jobs with over 100 applicants, being sweet talked and approached by recruiters but then ghosted.

Applying with huge companies which should have good HR departments but then only getting a 'No' when I chase them.

I am a professional with 19 years experience, I am 38 and come across well in interviews (loads over the years and loads of feedback) and my CV is good and has been done professionally.

It's just frustrating and annoying and I've never known anything like it in all my years of work. Just want to rant but any tips welcome. What am I doing wrong.

Oh wow. Is everyone just walking into jobs these days then? Is it just me. Not a single reply.

I'm not sure why you haven't had any replies because I've seen this issue come up over and over on here. The job market is dire at the moment. Perhaps repost on the Work board?

Nobody wants walking on to new jobs. It's hard. I have been actively searching since March. I have only had 4 interviews with different companies. No second rounds. No interview in June.

There is a thread about how we are all waiting.

A thread for people who are waiting to hear if they’ve been shortlisted 2 www.mumsnet.com/Talk/work/5088779-a-thread-for-people-who-are-waiting-to-hear-if-theyve-been-shortlisted-2

LinkedIn?

Market is more challenging at the moment.

Definitely don’t let the number of applicants put you off. Often they’re not real applications, just click throughs or rubbish CVs or requiring visas.

Secondly, AI filters out a lot of good CVs because it’s rubbish. This is why recruiters (good ones) are helpful or smaller companies who get less applicants so don’t use AI. You can overcome this, Google for advice. Also reach out to real people if you have contacts in the company or want to chat before applying.

Age could be a factor depending on industry and seniority. I try to hide it on my CV, no dates for the older jobs and qualifications. I’m competing with people 10+ years my junior.

Otherwise, it’s a tough time due to uncertainty, some industries are particularly bad right now and the summer holidays are about to start so interviewers will have less availability so may not advertise until later.
