Job interview- chase interviewers again?

I went for an assessment day/ interview for a part time job 2 weeks ago and they told us we would all hear back from them with a response by the end of the week. I didnt hear back so assumed I didnt get the role and on the Monday asked if they could provide any feedback. They replied apologising and said they hadn't made a decision on who got the role and I would hopefully hear from them on Wednesday and if not Wednesday then by the end of the week. Again I didn't hear anything from them and now I’m wondering if I should chase them again for a response or leave it and assume they hired someone else? I really would like feedback from them as it was the first assessment day i have done but dont want to come across badly!

I'd assume they went for another candidate or are waiting for their choice to make a decision. I'd leave it another couple of days then ask.

A lot of companies, though, never get back to let you know. A fact of employment life, unfortunately.

Thanks for the reply, I agree they have probably picked someone else. Would you message again asking for feedback? As I’ve already asked, I’m worried it comes across as pushy or needy and I wouldn’t want to put the company off me if another job comes up there.

Tricky. Did you apply directly or through an agency? if an agency, ask them. If not, I'd probably assume it's gone to someone else.

Chasing up is always problematic because you don't want to be the candidate who won't let it go, or who asks for feedback. If they had a lot of people to interview then they probably don't have the time to give that to everyone.

How much do you want it as against not shooting yourself in the foot with the company when other jobs come up, I guess is the answer. I'd ask for an update at the end of the week - just a polite paragraph saying you'd like to know whether they are proceeding with your candidacy - but I wouldn't ask for feedback for the reason above.

I applied directly. Yes, this is exactly what I’m worried about, I don’t want to be the person who doesn’t know when to take the hint!

Thank you, that’s good advice, I’ll leave it this week and then send a short email on Friday just to ask if they made a decision. Thanks again!
