Sick Pay Question

Sickpay24 · 18/06/2024 05:23

I work for the local authority and in September I had a horrible injury and was off sick for all of September and October. My sick pay entitlement is 2 months full and 2 months half pay. Can anyone please tell me when my sick pay goes back to the full entitlement? I'm always worried that if I get ill again I won't be able to receive full pay and cover my bills.

Check your employers sickness policy as it may vary. Where I work once you've reached the full pay threshold then you aren't eligible for another 12 months.

It doesn't actually say anywhere and I don't really want to ask. So, I potentialky wouldn't be eligible for full sick pay again until November?

Ours is 12 months too, I think it’s fairly common but will depend on your employer.

Our LA is 12 months rolling sick pay.
So, September if your contrack is like mine.

Did the injury happen at work? Otherwise I think it’s 12 months.

Sickpay24 · 18/06/2024 06:27

It wasn't work-related, no. So it could be September and not November?

It's 12 months at my local authority

Ours is also rolling 12 months. So if you went off on 1st September 2023, then on 1st September 2024 you'd be entitled to 1 day full pay, 2nd September 2024 you'd be entitled to another day full pay etc and by end October 2024 you'd be entitled to the full 2 months full pay again.

In the meantime, the odd day of sick leave would be at half pay, unless you take a lot and that runs out before September.

@HappyAsASandboy Thank you for taking the time!! Obviously not planning on being sick, but that's not how life works!
